First off, there are three things to know about this deck:
1) It is not tournament valid (only 30 cards, 1 ring hero)
2) I only have the core set, starter packs, Fellowship of the Ring saga, and the Two Towers saga (beginner card decks)
2) It is very high-risk high reward (but a lot of fun, think glass cannon)
That being said I am new to deck building and the game in general. I have only been playing a month or so now. I watched a lot of youtube videos and one creator in particular said it may be easier to start with 30 cards and learn how to build first before getting to 50. So that is what I did.
Because of the low amount of cards, you are more likely to get what you need when you need it then in a 50 card deck. This probably makes the quests easier but I wouldn't know as I am only building 30 card decks right now.
I played this deck with my brother in law who played a modified Riders of Rohan starter deck over Thanksgiving. We were able to finish all the core set quests and the Fellowship of the Ring quests. We lost once or twice but we still beat all of them eventually.
This deck is so much fun. The idea is to load up Haldir of Lórien with the Bow of the Galadhrim, Dagger of Westernesse, and Wingfoot. Then, using Henamarth Riversong, "guess" the next card to ready Haldir after questing for attack of the staging area. Put the other dagger on Merry. Use Frodo Baggins as your main quester and always use his ability to quest for 4. Save Daeron's Runes to play when you have the extra Wingfoot and Henamarth cards in your hand so you don't lose other cards you will need. Feint is there in case an enemy actually does engage you and you should always leave 1 resource on Merry to be able to use it at any time. Foe-hammer will get you great card draw with your weapons. Finally, Gléowine for card draw, Mablung to push enemies back to the staging area, Erebor Hammersmith to get back attachments lost due to treacheries, Miner of the Iron Hills to deal with any bad condition attachments on heroes, Gondorian Spearman to defend and give damage, and Galadhon Archer to attack and give damage.
Yikes, Saga One Ring in non-Saga quests is nuts, not having a quarter of the encounter deck penalizing you for using it. If you have so many packs, you could try going up to 40 or 50 cards, I recommend adding Quickbeam, as he is amazing. I would also take out a Miner of the Iron Hills, unless you get hit with lots of conditions.
