Here is my shot at an Istari deck.
Mulligan for any staff. Thanks to Rods of the Five they are the main mechanic to use multiple actions on the wizards.
The one main problems with this deck is threat. The contract saves you from threat out and I never lost to it, but you have to deal with big enemies from the beginning, since you start at 39.
The other problem is the deck size and therefore the reliability. The best way to deal with it except for drawing cards or Word of Command is to shuffle the deck and use Gandalfs abillity. Especially the dogs are usefull. With Radagast's Staff you can shuflle your deck three turnes in a row for no cost.
Give it a try its a fun deck and good against the most quests. Especially the spells are extremly powerfull and fun to play.

Apr 18, 2025Thanks :) Missed the The Galadhrim's Greeting altough I almost never played it. I will swap it for hidden cache. The Eagles Are Coming! is more for thinning and the extra deck shuffle than finding any eagles. I am sure there are still some improvements for this deck. |
Apr 18, 2025because the staffs are important i would add the Master of the Forge helps to get them all out. would replace The Eagles Are Coming! as else looks solid for every quessts, where redcing thread by more than 1 is possible. |
Apr 18, 2025I guess with Gandalf and the potential to play The Eagles Are Coming! from the top of your deck for free, it's really not bad to have it in there. Could net you a card in the process, thins your deck otherwise. Good call. |
Looks fun! A few notes though:
You have 17/100 Eagle cards, meaning The Eagles Are Coming! will frequently whiff and just be a dead draw. Also, due to A Perilous Voyage's effect, The Galadhrim's Greeting can't reduce your threat.
With 3x Zigil Miner, you could include 3x Hidden Cache. Using it with your included Expert Treasure-hunter and Wizard Pipe is essentially the equivalent of Steward of Gondor, except you can choose which hero gets the resources each turn.
Overall, I think it looks like great fun and very viable.
