Faramir with a Great Yew Bow is a lovely combo. But if you don't want to include too many tactics cards, The Grey Wanderer is perfect for this, as it grants you a very low starting threat too. Mulligan for some of the eco boosts (Captain's Wisdom, Resourceful or Timely Aid)
The Allies:
Anborn for extra attack and recuring Ranger Spikes, Beorning Beekeeper for nice damage into the staging area, Deeping Defender for the nice 3 and a returning to the staging area, Emyn Arnen Ranger is just insane once you fing the Ranger spikes having 2-4 willpower for a 2 cost ally, Envoy of Pelargir for cheap willpower, Firyal for the Willpower and the safety while questing, Gaffer Gamgee for when you don't want to defend, Gandalf for emergencies, Guardian of Ithilien mainly to get a Ranger Bow for staging area attack, Henamarth Riversong for encounter knowledge to know when to play the traps, Mablung for cheap willpower and maybe a ranger bow too, Master of the Forge to fetch all the attachments and Northern Tracker for location control
The Attachments:
Great Yew Bow to have Faramir attack the staging area, Ranger Bow for damage into the staging Area, Ranger Spikes to trap enemies in staging, your main goal to find with master of the forge, Resourceful for extra eco boost at the beginning, as the cards are quite expensive on average, Secret Vigil for less threat of an enemy in staging and threat reduction, Strider is chosen as starting attachment, and The Renewer for more willpower and healing.
The Events:
Advance Warning is for when there's a lot of low-engagement enemies around, Captain's Wisdom for a big resource boost when you play it and then immediatly trigger the contract, Daeron's Runes to get through the deck faster for the ranger spikes, Fear! Fire! Foes! as an emergency solution, Spring the Trap to get Anborn or the Trackers in for free. Timely Aid for a free ally in the first turns and Vanish from Sight is to go back into secrecy as well as not having to engage enemies.

Apr 05, 2025Thanks for pointing the problem with captain's wisdom out. And yeah, noiseless movement blocking one enemy should be enough |
Apr 05, 2025like the baseidea very much. i think it is not good for solo and perhaps even not for 2 player but for 3-4 player it should be great.something to consider: if you choose Song of Kings as startingattachment, you can do whenever you want, and you have your sphere-free purchases for the precious red ones. if not playing solo, i think it is of more worth than the usual Strider from the start (and you can decide after startinghand wich one to choose). then, if the Great Yew Bow is cruicial, then Open the Armory would seem a good choice to me. then consider take Mablung moreoften. he is so good for that strategy and can die or even used with Sneak Attack (specially when adding Song of Kings from the start) and, it is themeful. then, perhaps not 100 % themeful, but good for recycling, the Erebor Hammersmith he can also return the topmst trap in your discard to your hand. |
I love this idea (especially finding a use for Faramir)! Unfortunately, as thematic as Captain's Wisdom is here, it is a resource action, and so you cannot use the effect on The Grey Wanderer to play it w/out a resource match during the planning phase :(.
My only other thought is have you considered Noiseless Movement as a potential substitute for Advance Warning? It costs one less and could potentially be recycled for multiple uses.
Again, nice job coming up with a fun and creative deck!
