Poète du troglo 43
Here is a funny thematic and mono-lore deck in true solo with a good victory rate against Intruders in Chetwood (I won 7 games over 10 with that line-up, in 6 rounds most of the time). The deck takes advantage of the fact that the quest removes the combat's engagement checks.
The strategy
You use a bunch of drawing and resource acceleration options (Daeron's Runes, Mithrandir's Advice, Deep Knowledge, Heed the Dream, Word of Command copies with Saruman, The Seeing-stone, Legacy of Númenor, Keys of Orthanc, Gríma's ability) to quickly pay some questing allies, Gandalf, and what is needed to achieve the quest.
In detail
- In first hand, it's nice to see Keys of Orthanc, Legacy of Númenor and The Great Hunt which will soon discard the not-too-funny Orc War Party that you have left in the staging area
- Firyal will discard Sudden Assault, the copies of Orc War Party, Outlying Homestead before Aragorn's coming, and the encounter side-quest Rescue Iarion (or other side-quests depending on the context's emergency)
- Do not play too much doomed events before drawing Helm of Secrecy or fetching it with Word of Command. Then, do not forget to save resources in order to play it with the proper timing
- Play Helm of Secrecy when your threat is as close as possible of 49, ideally during the Refresh Action. Then, trigger the Aragorn's action
- You will still be able to play the copies of Deep Knowledge not played yet. The Legacy of Númenor, Saruman's Staff and some other cards will be used to discarding (for agressive needs with Keen Longbow ; for defensive or questing needs with Protector of Lórien)
- I use Ioreth as a free target against the very annoying Angmar Orc mostly
Even if the strategy and tactics are pretty simple, the risk is always there. It's like a tightrope walking exercise between the trees, with crazy orcs just below. So winning requires a mix of cautiousness and risk-taking.
