This deck is meant to be played as a fellowship with the corresponding quest deck.
Merry is the thematic hero to sacrifice as the captive.
Getting a Winged Guardian out along with ensuring a resource is always available is a key strategy to this fellowship's success. Having Legolas as a ranged attacker and the sentinel Winged Guardian allows the quest deck to optionally engage enemies and hopefully have a hero available to attack the enemy along with Legolas. Weapon attachments are important to making quick work of enemies and also doubles as a card draw tool utilizing Foe-hammer. A second card draw trick is to play The Eagles Are Coming! and fill your hand with eagles.
Bofur should be used for questing once the weapon attachments have been drawn. His two is a huge addition after the second quest card comes into play. Battle-fury can come in handy to remove engaged enemies during the second quest phase, or to finish off Grishnakh prior to him killing off the captive he has.
