I created this deck newer players could have a chance to use a deck with low-costing cards, (none except Gandalf over three cost) and find a way to use Glorfindel and Aragorn.
How To Use This Deck
THE HEROES
ARAGORN
Use Aragorn however you like to use Aragorn. He's has a nice ability, and you can do more than just one thing with him. I personally would, after commiting him, ready him as a defender (or an attacker IF Eleanor is ready.)
GLORFINDEL
Use Glorfindel as your main quester. With 3 AND 3 , sometimes it can be hard deciding just how to use him. (Just maybe don't defend) His effect is one you could use every round your heroes or allies are damaged. I wouldn't use him to heal an ally like, Guard of the Citadel, because that card is mainly used as a sacrifice. (Plus, I don't think I've ever seen a game where GotC takes damage and doesn't die) You could use Glorf as an attacker, if you decide to give him Unexpected Courage.
ELEANOR
Don't commit Eleanor. Ever. Her effect is good, you should keep her ready always. (Until, of course, she exhausts to cancel) If you are playing one player or maybe even two player, give her Protector of Lórien. Don't use it for the , use it for the .
THE ALLIES
Use her like you would any game. ALWAYS HEAL. If you have her in and no damaged allies, you an save Glorfindel's money. Only commit if it's the end of the game and you just need questing.
GANDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALF! Commit him. Or you could attack. Or defend. You decide based on how the game is going. Use his effect the same way.
Draw cards. All the cards in this deck have a purpose, and you need him to draw those cards.
He will be remembered. (I mean, kill him off fast. He's a sacrifice)
He works well with Eleanor. Look at the top card of the encounter deck, and then you can maybe commit her, if she has Protector of Lórien. (IF you're playing one player)
Commit her. (There's not too much chemistry to this card)
He is one of my favorite cards. His effect is SO helpful, so never just buy him. Wait until you reveal a nasty condition. (First check if their are any conditions in the scenario you're playing) You might not have to use him because of Eleanor, but if you exhaust her to cancel a treachery and THEN the vile condition comes out, that's where he comes in.
Buy him when the staging area is cluttered with locations. Or if you are fighting a really hard enemy. (You know why)
THE ATTATCHMENTS
GIVE IT TO: Aragorn
GIVE IT TO: Eleanor
GIVE IT TO: Ufthak! (Or any other hard enemy)
GIVE IT TO: A hard location that has to stay in the staging area.
GIVE IT TO: One or two player: Eleanor. Three or four player: Aragorn or Eleanor
GIVE IT TO: One or two player: Eleanor. Three or four player: Aragorn or Eleanor.
GIVE IT TO: Either Aragorn or Glorfindel. I would give it to Aragorn, because he can gain the resource icon, and you will use his effect more often than Glorfindel. THE FAVOR OF THE LADY
GIVE IT TO: Glorfindel or Aragorn. Glorfindel if Aragorn has Celebrían's Stone.
GIVE IT TO: You decide by how the game is turning out. If you draw it at the beginning of the game, give it to Aragorn.
THE EVENTS
I really like this card for this deck. If you don't reveal a treachery but are fighting a hard enemy, play this card to exhaust Eleanor and ready Glorfindel.
The only reason you would really HAVE to use this card is if you lose Unexpected Courage, or if Aragorn has Celebrían's Stone and Eleanor dies. (Which can happen)
The only allies you really want to ready with this card are Gandalf, Daughter of the Nimrodel, and Gléowine.
This is a helpful card if you are fighting a hard enemy, and it can give Eleanor +1 .
You can use this whenever. I would use it if the circumstances were dire (such as if there is 11 in the staging area) and I could use a Gandalf.
THOSE BLASTED SHADOWS!!!
Heal! Heal! Heal!
The reason that there is only one copy of this card is because it's not really that worth it. Use it in dire circumstances.
SNEAK ATTACK Sneak in Gandalf. That is why this card is good.
Use this card if no treacheries were revealed and Eleanor is ready.
One con this deck has is high . This card solves that problem.
Play right before playing Gandalf.
Congrats if you read this entire review.

Jan 18, 2021Thanks'! It's still helpful if Lórien Guide leaves play or you need a Miner of the Iron Hills and there is one in the discard pile. |

Dec 03, 2021Hey man, nice deck. Nice to see you use Glorfindel, someone I think gets passed over a lot. Going to try it out tonight myself! |
Great deck and explanations for new players just starting. One correction is that you cannot use Stand and Fight to bring back Gandalf from the discard pile per the rules FAQ (https://images-cdn.fantasyflightgames.com/ffg_content/lotr-lcg/support/LotR-FAQ.pdf).
