Add this to the growing list of top-tier Three Hunters decks. It took down Nightmare Battle of the Five Armies on the third attempt (that quest can lead to some pretty fast scoops).
The cool thing about the interaction of the Three Hunters contract with Tactics Boromir is that it turns him into a pretty solid 4- quester once he's loaded up. This lets his once-per-phase readying see more use as he gets to quest, attack, and defend every round.
Dwarrowdelf Axe is actually War Axe (not yet released, gives +1 attack for each restricted attachment on attached hero).

Setup
Use the jumpstart provided by Denethor's resources and Erestor's cards to get down 2 restricted attachments on each hero during the planning phase.
The ideal attachment distribution would be something like:
- Erestor (main quester): Celebrían's Stone, two other pointless restricteds, Strider
- Denethor (main defender): Gondorian Shield, and some combination of Round Shields and Armored Destriers. Also Dúnedain Warning.
- Boromir (main attacker): With Raiment of War and a War Axe he can quest for 4, then defend for 3 with 7 hit points, and still attack back for 7! Boromir also gets Heir of Mardil and Cram to serve as extra readies during the combat phase for when you get swarmed.
Remember that restricted attachments can be always be discarded if you want to play another one beyond the limit, so my recommendation is to just get two restricted on each hero on turn 1 any way that you can.
Flipping the contract is what makes the deck able to quest. But before you do that, you need some questing strength in turn 1. To that end, I'd say Celebrían's Stone or Strider is one of the most important turn-1 attachments. Once you flip the contract at the end of turn 1 you should have no more willpower issues. Erestor quests for 9 with the attachments listed above, and Boromir quests for 4 .
Now, Boromir's readying is not free of course. And we don't have in the deck. So we've thrown in what threat reduction we could with Favor of the Valar and Woodmen's Clearing. I've found it to be more than enough.
Lastly, Gondorian Fire is in the deck because it really helped with the Battle questing in Battle of the Five Armies. It could also work if you want to load Boromir up with defensive attachments like Gondorian Shield and Raiment of War, and let Steward of Gondor and Gondorian Fire provide the attack power. But if you don't want to do that, you can always replace it with something else, like Keen as Lances for more threat reduction, or Sword of Númenor for some added setup consistency.

Sep 30, 2019Denethor is better with a Shield and a Destrier anyway. |
Sep 30, 2019(Also fixed another mistake in the description, Boromir can't ride Armored Destrier. Shows you how much time I spent proofreading this one!) |
Oct 01, 2019Why the Legacy Blade? Do you depend on other players' side quests for the it? Or is it because it's free? Maybe Sword of Númenor instead, though that is not free of course. |

You can't play Raiment of War on Denethor because he's not warrior. And War Axe is limited to 1 per character.
