Darkling Door 6609
This is a deck built from just Core Set, The Wilds of Rhovannion and The Withered Heath cards for Path Less Traveled, an ongoing series on my blog, Darkling Door.
Played Against: The Withered Heath
Equipping the deck for success
Grimbeorn the Old helps to cover combat during the early game while I try to get the Dale allies into play and fully powered up.
Mulligan for: King of Dale
Tips
- The Long Lake Fisherman is great for fishing out King of Dale if I haven't found it yet. Otherwise, I usually name "1" if I'm looking for Attachments or "2" if I'm looking for Allies
- Grimbeorn the Old isn't meant to cover combat all by himself the entire game. He should hand over the defensive duties to a Redwater Sentry or Guardian of Esgaroth as soon as possible.
- Grey Cloak combos great with North Realm Lookout
- If you have a wider card pool, it may be worth adding in some more non- card draw
It's fun to see just how effective Grimbeorn the Old can be with so little support! Of all the Dale decks I've tried, though, I think Beravor is still my favorite third Hero—you just can't beat that card draw!
