Where did i put that blade sharpener?

the idea of this deck is to get a bunch of side quests in the victory display and and herugrim on thurindir. that sounds like a lot but it is really simple to do. once you get this set up you can tank almost every enemy you come across easily. also to be noted is one sidequest (except rally the west) with herugrim lets thurindir attack for 5.

so i know a lot of people probably will disregard this because a lot of people dont like side quests but they can be super fun and super useful. all the effects on sidequests in this deck have a purpose and that makes it so important we get our sidequests in the victory display.

how do we set up our combo?

its quite simple. in your opening hand you will probably draw a side quest but dont worry if you dont, thurindir will get one. the one you want to grab is gather information to grab a piece of the combo or just another sidequest. dunedain message will also get you a sidequest. so you want nor am i a stranger, herugrim, and at least one sidequest in the victory display. elven light will draw you cards, master of the forge will get your attachments, and daerons runes also draw cards. if you use gather information you can grab an elven light just to start drawing cards, also gandalf.

what does each sidequest do for you?

Double Back: gives a better excuse for turtling because it lets you reduce your threat and keeps you low to avoid the bug enemies before you are ready

Gather information:gets you any one card out of your deck, provides consistency nit much to say

prepare for battle: draws you extra cards especially in solo allowing you find your vombo pieces quicker

Rally the West: boosts will and with herugrim gives two additional attack with thurindir

Scout Ahead: scrys the deck letting yoy set up your next couple of turns and lets you reduce encounter deck consistency

The Storm Comes: allows you to use your resources on heros that you dont need their resources to save your resources for your combo cards

thats essentially the deck if you have questions leave a comment!

It's a long winded combo to set up but is great for setting up Thurindir as a boss-killer. The only thing I dislike about Herugrim though is that you only get 1 decent attack with it. You might want to consider giving him a legacy blade as well so he can deal with multiple weaker enemies. I'd also give him Wingfoot so you can save unexpected courage for defending/attacking.

@Aurion Oh yeah it definitely is long winded but it's super effective. As for the blade as well you could go that route, I've found it's not neccessary when I'm playing solo. I'm almost never engaged with more than one enemy at a time and if I am that's what amarthuil and the vigilant dunadan are for. And at that point you can just dour handed them or wait another turn to kill them. Which we dont mind waiting a turn. And for wingfoot, with no scrying I dont like it especially if you are already engaged with an enemy like previously mentioned.

Hey, Dour-Handed seeing some use! Did you consider Keep Watch?

Neat combo! Quick question. What are the three copies of HoM for? You only have one warrior character, and HoM is a limit one per character card.

@Wandalf the Gizzard yes I did, but you have to be engaged with an enemy to play it and I dont usually sit with an enemy after it engages me

@Levache consistency mostly, helps with amarthuil, but if you want you could drop them for a warden

Fair enough.
