Kingdom of Dúnadans; was established together with the Arnor of the year 3320 D.v. Elendil the Faithful and his sons after the Fall of Númenor. The Empire was formed in the days of its greatest glory between the lands of Lefnui and Anduina, including Tolfalas, Enedwaitm, Calenardhon and Anoreen, the plains between the Dark Fleet and the Ered Lithui to Rhûn Lake, Ithilien, Harondor and Umbar. The borders of Gondor represented the Gwathló and Glanduin, Hithaeglir, Fangorn, Lipava, Anduina, Brown, Rhône, Ered Lithui and Ephel Dúath, Harnen and the coastal region around Umbar. In later times, however, Gondor had power only over the countries south of the White Mountains, Ithilien and Anoreen.
The largest cities of Gondor were the old capital of Osgiliath, Minas Anor and Minas Ithil. 2002 T.v. however, Minas Ithil was occupied by the Nazguls and called Minas Morgul, and Osgiliath was later destroyed and deserted. Thus, at the end of the Third Age, the metropolis of Gondor Minas Anor, now called Minas Tirith.
The first king of Gondor was Anarion, and his son Meneldil reigned after him. In 1640 the royal residence was transferred to Minas Anor. By 2050 T.v. the kings of Anar-eon's family ruled over Gondor. The last king Eärnur was murdered by the Witch King - the Nazgulus master of Minas Morgul. From that they ruled Gondor in the name of the king's stewards. In 2510, the administrator of Cirion donated Calenardhon to the King of the North, Eethéod, Eorl the Young, for help in the battle (see Amon Anwar). The last ruling was Denethor II. and after his death in 3019, the king, Elessar of Isildur's family, became the ruler of the Renewed Kingdom.
