Hi!
My first deck published ever!
I love Éomer, but I always struggled to use it effectively because he misses some initial . Also, his natural partner, Fastred is not a very good defender. So it is a duo slow to set up to start rocking, save from the amazing three hunters deck from Seastan.
Now it is possible to start fast and furious from round 0 thanks to the new contracts from AleP. With At the End of All Things, Fastred is a solid defender with 4 and 4 and Éomer a solid attacker with 4, if you add here The Riddle-game and handle Glamdring to Éomer, with 6 you can one-shot most of the game enemies and draw a card as a bonus. Get him Gúthwinë for extra 2 and the possibility to bring back allies (which you will need 100% as you will be discarding cards during the Riddle game), and enemies won't even dare to come out from the encounter deck.
Idealy, Éomer gets Glamdring, Gúthwinë and Strider; and Fastred gets Hauberk of Mail, Snowmane and 1 Armored Destrier (if you don't need his questing, you can eventually give him a second Destrier and discard Snowmane).
There is not much more to explain about it. Play the first rounds with caution as you will need to tactically save cards for the Riddle-game, explode on turn 4 thanks to At the End of All Things, and enjoy smiting enemies.
If it happens that you have to pair this deck with another one that uses The Riddle-game, here you have a version of this deck that has no Riddle-game. It is slower to set but also fun.
Enjoy!

Apr 10, 2025Happy you like the idea. Indeed, early willpower can be an issue if you don't draw Strider or Snowmane, but you can afford to under quest a few times, with Fastred threat is not an issue. To circumvent the resource restriction from At the End of All Things, you have cards like Captain's Wisdom, Man the Walls and Salvaged Supplies, which you can play every round. I like more the Hauberk over the Dúnedain Warning for the extra hit point it provides for the same cost as a Warning, but I agree that the Dúnedain Warnings are also a good option in case Arwen Undomiel is taken in another deck. |
I love the idea. How does it do at questing early on? There's not a ton of starting willpower. And do you find yourself resource starved from using Éomer's ability combined with the resource restrictions of At the End of All Things?
Just a small comment, I'd replace one Hauberk of Mail with a Dúnedain Warning so you can stack both of them on Fastred if necessary.
