I am very new to the game and this was my first attempt at making a Hobbit deck, but I honestly had no idea what I was doing. I kinda just threw cards out there and made the deck in <10 minutes. Please help and give me some advice on cards to use for a Hobbit deck. I'm also trying to make a Vilya deck, and would love some advice on that. Here's the very little bit that I have to work with: Core set, Elves starter pack, Gondor starter pack, Rohan starter pack, Fellowship of the Ring sage expansion, and Angmar Awakened hero expansion.

For a hobbit deck, I'll take away all allies but hobbit allies. Many of them exist. If you have or can have them, I will said : Rosie Cotton, Gaffer Gamgee, Pippin are great values. However it depends on the game style and the type of scenarios. Rosie is great for heavy questing scenarios most of the time, and sometimes great for moving points to combat too. For a deck with Gandalf and Hobbits, there is the classic "Fangorn deck" (Gandalf, Pippin, Merry, and only Ents as allies).

In general, it's not necessary to include 3 copies of an unique allies (some exceptions exist like for example in Eomund / Rohan deck, or in Caldara's decks where you may want to increase the odds to discard a future good target for Caldara's effect, or more generally when one want to accelerate the setup or contract achievement like in Fellowship contract).

Favor of the Valar would be nice in very specific cases and scenarios. Most often one like to use threat reducer instead (in your deck Merry and The Galadhrim's Greeting are good for that). For more readying in a hobbit deck you have The Shirefolk, or Elrond's Counsel if you can add some Noldor like Arwen.

Traps here are not very thematic. Prefer using Ithilien or Dunedain decks.
