This deck at its core is just accelerating resources and drawing cards to get an army of efficient and/or strong allies into play. it is leveraging location attachments for that through Rowan's ability, Elf-stone,and Ancient Mathom. Steward added back in replacing Ranger Provisions as the Deep keyword slows down resource acceleration. Rowan is the best target for Steward.

Thurindir should get Gather Information first. This to boost his willpower ASAP. Also it can help find whatever the deck needs. Prepare for Battle is the ideal second quest to complete since the deck is resource rich and can play cards quickly.

I lost my first attempt because I had a heck of time getting locations. When I did get Deep locations, the Dragon Signs were always at the bottom of the Caves deck. I had foolishly cut the Pathfinders and they're back in now. I added another copy of Firyal to help get past treacheries and enemies. I also added Stone of Elostirion and Mithril Shirt to also force some location reveals.

I increased the number of Arwen and Angbor to help my early game willpower. Ghân-buri-Ghân replaced Haleth for more willpower as well but also to have a way to avoid a really bad travel effect. Besides Haleth's ability isn't needed. This deck gets up to drawing 3 cards a turn by mid game.

Woodmen's Clearing replaced Woodmen's Path as threat is real issue in The Withered Heath.

interesting herosetup. perhaps better with Haldan instead of Thurindir more synergy with locations and attachments for locations.

but nevertheless, would include Armored Destrier for Rowan

if keeping Thurindir then i would use the Ranger Summons

would consider The Hidden Way

Thurindir works well because you have a lot opportunity to side quest. Often you're stuck on a stage looking for Dragon Sign anyway. Might as well get some side quests done and get the benefits for completing them.

I thought about Armored Destrier but the campaign gave me Turayn for a second defender. He and Rowan have been working well together. It has been good too for those cannot ready until the end of the round effects. If one can't ready the other still can defend next round. I even got Gimli going as a third defender because of that.

Ranger Summons doesn't work that great solo. It takes a long time to find them usually. I guess if it were to work through with how long this quest is I'd probably would have found them. Still I don't usually need more help mid to late game. Early game is the only point the deck has some trouble. Usually it stabilizes once a defense boost is on Rowan or Turayn and some attack is out.

Hidden Way was under consideration for this quest. I generally prefer a solution that is an ally or attachment over an event. I get something to use throughout the game that way so I went with Pathfinders, Stone of Elostirion, and Mithril Shirt. Hidden Way could easily be swapped in for any of those I think.

Thinking about readying for Rowan about it a little bit more, I'd put in Unexpected Courage first. It gives a way to ready if hit with the cannot ready until the end of the round in the next one. You lose the shadow cancelation on a second enemy but it only takes one Giant Spider shadow effect and you're SOL. Also you can keep both restricted slots open for Ancestral Armor and a defensive treasure attachment like Helm of Heroes.

Extra Unexpected Courage could also go on Sulien to use her ability too.
