This deck is part of a set of 16 decks, for all details check out the project here: 16 Decks Were Given to the Race of Men.
Rating:
- Preferred Player Count: 2 - 4
- Complexity: Medium
- Time Intensity: High
- Focus: Locations
Synopsis:
This deck is focused around putting attachments on locations. Due to Haldan's interaction with the active location, this deck is stuffed with attachments to support that. Cards like South Away!, Forest Road Traveler and Mirkwood Hunter provide further synergy. Because the deck can accumulate a lot of cards Gríma is included. His threat raise can be undone by using South Away!.
How it's played:
This deck looks to get a significant card advantage. While growing your hand, you just try to keep things moving. Don't be afraid to trigger Gríma and maximize the output of your attachments. Always look for the possibility of a location with a high number of attachments, this allows cards like Haldan, Mirkwood Hunter, South Away! and Forest Road Traveler to be effective. Don't be afraid to raise your threat for Glorfindel (or Gríma) and try to optimize every resource spent. You should almost never spent the entire cost of Firyal or Haleth, instead look to leverage Elf-stone as much as possible. Playing an attachment on a location where its effect is minimal is still something desirable, Haldan will eventually draw you a replacement anyhow. Because Haldan and Glorfindel don't have the range keyword, several defensive options have been included.
Changes:
The biggest change in the deck is of course swapping Beravor for Gríma. You lose a bit of consistency since you lose your guaranteed draw. The upside of adding Gríma is ofcourse that everything becomes more affordable. We also removed one of the copies of A Test of Will. This change was made since we believe having more decks with a single copy adds greater value than stacking them all together. The ally list got a massive upgrade with cards like Arwen Undómiel, Gandalf and Treebeard.
Strengths: Location management
Weaknesses: Early defense
