Wandering Ranger 54

This is kind of a strange deck that revolves around questing with each hero, then having two up and ready for combat after. I designed this deck for a few reasons, firstly (and less controversially) because Ally Sam Gamgee and Hero Frodo Baggins, don't see much play and I wanted to make them work. Secondly (and controversially) I don't like Glorfindel, or more accurately I don't like Light of Valinor. I love the idea of Spifindel loads, an under threated hero that forces you to make tough decisions while using him, he could create loads of fun and interesting gameplay scenarios, but with Light of Valinor he just becomes an overused deck addition that takes away the usual drawback to low threat decks the low stats that come alongside it and reduces creativity to overcome the challenges of lower stats. Anyway, my rant about Glorfindel aside, he complements the other two heroes marvelously, where his threat increase is something of a benefit allowing us to consistently trigger Sam's ability, then Frodo readies Glorfindel and then hopefully drops your threat back down again. This deck forgoes lots of the usual secrecy shenanigans in favor of helping the hero's work smoothly. Resources are obviously an issue, so any of your resource generation cards are fairly important. Asides from those the rest of the deck is focused on keeping the whole system running and adding value here and there. Is this deck particularly strong? no, but it's a fun concept that makes for a fun deck. If you have alep cards Elendilmir is a great inclusion so you can double up on Sam's triggers for extra value. Thanks for taking the time to look at my strange gimmicky deck, if you have any suggestions or criticisms feel free to let me know!

i love the baseidea. great use of asm and making the flaw of spirfindel to a boon is genius.

beside that i see much potential to improve. either,

  • go full thematic (that would make the deck perhaps worse, but it would be thematically and still playable) that means not using steward and Steward of Orthanc , Anborn and Armored Destrier add some hobit or nolkdor-shenanigans
  • or go more effective, because you are not inheme with Steward of Gondor you can exploit more what the cardpool has to offer

thematic: in:

thematic out:

explain: with the Rivendell Minstrel you will get the Song of Wisdom easy, and you can use the Rivendell Minstrel with Horns! Horns! Horns! or Sneak Attack

efficiancy in:

out:

hope there was smething for you included, happy questing!

@doomguard I like those ideas, I really like the idea of a thematic deck and a stronger deck that you can swap between fairly easily. I'll definitely be giving both of these a shot.
