Rusticator 32
This is a companion to another thematic Hobbit deck for The Black Riders. As with the partner deck, it is locked in both place and time. This is also intended as a companion and support deck for A Shadow of the Past, The Old Forest and Fog on the Barrow Downs. The main deck then carries on through the rest of The Black Riders. For this reason, I make no claim that the distribution of cards between the two is necessarily optimal.
This deck is more likely to stay in Secrecy than its counterpart, and the cards reflect that.
Key Pieces
- Dagger of Westernesse should go on Merry, Tom Cotton or Sam Gamgee, in that order.
- Fast Hitch is best on Rosie Cotton and then Sam Gamgee or Merry.
- Hobbit Pony is good on Frodo Baggins.
- Resourceful should go on Fatty Bolger and then Sam Gamgee or Pippin if Red Book of Westmarch is not yet in play.
- Ring Mail goes on Sam Gamgee or Tom Cotton.
- Self Preservation goes on Sam Gamgee.
- Halfling Determination is a great boost for Hide tests before Rosie Cotton is in play with Fast Hitch.
Sideboard
- Secret Vigil can be very powerful if you're confident of killing Nazgûl.
- Unexpected Courage helps with the action economy challenges of The Old Forest and Fog on the Barrow Downs.
- Gildor's Counsel, Out of the Wild and Strider's Path help with The Old Forest's locations.
- Small Target can be hilarious.
