Background:
I kept looking at Idraen and Scouting Party just sitting there in my collection having never played them before, and one day I remembered a video from the One Stop Co-op Shop where Colin played a Scouts deck with Scouting Party in it (I can't find the video, otherwise I would link it and link the deck too), so I decided to make a Scout deck myself and play 2-handed solo against the first three quests in the Dream-chaser cycle (Voyage Across Belegaer, The Fate of NĂºmenor and Raid on the Gray Havens). The deck did pretty well and I had a lot of fun with it!
How I play this deck:
-
Warden of Arnor goes on Idraen.
-
Quest with Lanwyn every round. Also quest with Idraen whenever there is an active location. Ideally you want to explore at least 1 location every round.
-
I usually save Scouting Party for when I can get 10 or more out of it. With two Scout heroes and cheap Scout allies, this is usually not difficult. Of course use it regardless of how much it will give you if you really need the active location explored for Idraen to ready.
-
Sailor of Lune is the star of the deck - it's a cheap Scout that isn't hard to get to 2 .
-
Save resources for Mirkwood Explorer. It's the secondary star of the deck because it's another Scout (albeit a bit expensive) with 2 and a relevant ability.
-
Ranger of Cardolan is there for defense, because I knew this deck would be lacking in combat power, and Beravor and Idraen are both Rangers. But feel free to bring it out for its normal cost if you have enough resources.
Scenario-specific notes:
-
Ioreth and Galadhrim Weaver are there for Sailing tests. For the non-Sailing quests, swap them with different cards from the sideboard.
-
The cards in the sideboard (especially Favor of the Valar and Forest Snare) are there to swap with The Galadhrim's Greeting and other events from the main deck when playing Raid on the Grey Havens, because of the event card hate that happens near the end of the quest.
Other notes:
-
I cannot recall why I only have 1 copy of Gandalf in here.
-
In all five quests that I played with this deck, Greyflood Wanderer did not even come up one time.
