- Don't forget his ability to repel the enemy for 2 extra rounds!
Notes:
- Mulligan for the Staff. Any other Gandalf shenanigan could also work.
- The Pipe will be a good target if Rosie or Sam + Bill are also in the opening hand.
- If mulligan does not help, we still have Drinking Song and Daeron's Runes (both are better to be played from the top of the deck).
- We also have several other useful cards to improve card draw and find missing hobbits as soon as possible:
- such as Expert Treasure-hunter, Gandalf's Staff, Word of Command,
- or even Pippin and Odo Proudfoot.
- Frodo Baggins is our best defender.
- Contract boost + Master pick + Rosie's = 7 + shadow cancelation
- Rosie Cotton and Bill the Pony are vital. They must be part of the 9 fellows.
- 2nd and 3rd Fast Hitches on Rosie.
- This will allow her to use and share her in quest phase, and then share it once again in combat phase.
- Word of Command is a good card to find missing Galadhrim's Greetings.
- Protector of Lórien and Song of Healing will make valuable every dead card in hand.
- Song of Healing in Gandalf will allow us to take some undefended attack without affecting our threat, something that could be useful in the early game.
Improvements:
- Since Gaffer Gamgee's ability goes against the conditions of the contract, it could be removed to make space for a better card.
- Tom Bombadillo! could be an interesting choice for this deck...
- If Fellowship is on Side A: Tom Bombadil will be another controlled unique character. Once revealed, he potentially could flip the contract over for the rest of the round.
- If Fellowship is on Side B: since he was never played (you just gain control of him when revealed), he can be used as a 10th unique character for the rest of the round (contract's +1s also affect him).

Jan 02, 2024Hey Resource acceleration is not an issue for this deck. I don't see the Love of Tales as something needed. Not sure about Sword-thain... do you have something in mind with it? I believe it will be more valuable for this deck to include a card for expending the unused resources I have by mid/late game than any other resource generator. I didn't understand your comment about Protector of Lórien :S Thank you! |
Jan 02, 2024@ Sword-thain put it on a hobbit and increase Pippin ability, then if taking Rosie Cotton or Merry makes it easier to pay for the other leadershipcards, gandalf can only pay once per round for an ally or attachment. Love of Tales if you have enough res, its a possibility to give it to a mate in multiplayer. expandable means, if i would discard something to make room for e.g. Sword-thain it would be Protector of Lórien spending mid-late res, ther could be a Song of Hope of use |
