As discussed on the Cardboard of the Rings Presents podcast feed, here is one of the decks I will be bringing to Con of the Rings 2023!
If you want to listen to this year's Con preview for discussion on the quests featured at this year's Con and some discussion on the decks we're bringing, be sure to check out the episode of Road to Rings 2023 here!
This deck is very similar to the Burglar's Turn deck that I brought last year (https://ringsdb.com/decklist/view/31340/roadtoringsshellinsburglarsturn-1.0) in that it is very specifically crafted to work with a four player fellowship of Burglar's Turn decks. I don't really think this is going to be all that good without the other three decks helping pump out attachments.
Last year we played Helm's Deep and utilized the extra 16 progress needed on locations to act as a buffer to stop the orcs from progressing, and it worked like a charm. This year, we want to bring four Burglar decks up against a quest that has traditional questing and see if we can pull it off. In order to do that we either needed some absurd willpower boosting, or some jank. I opted for the latter.
Heed the Dream and Gather Information should hopefully help me find Without My Hat within the first couple of rounds to be able to pull Woodmen's Path out of my collection to make it possible to quest through the locations that are loaded up with Burgled items and artifacts. After that I will be utilizing Second Breakfast, Erebor Hammersmith and Ered Nimrais Prospector + Haldan's crazy card draw to hopefully be able to recycle that copy of Woodmen's Path enough times to get us our attachments and continue questing through until our willpower is enough to power through.
Another deck also has West Road Traveller out there, so we do have some options for swapping in other locations to the active spot if we run into issues with the play.
Haldan is awesome in a BT deck (especially when there are four of them and he'll be drawing me 5 cards when a location is cleared with Path on it), Denethor should help me grab Path, and Lanwyn should be some decent ranged attacking for the early game where I'm not really able to build too big of a helpful boardstate while I'm digging.
This should be dumb, but hopefully it is fun. Can't wait to see a 6/6/6/2 Forest Road Traveler again this year.

She and Gavin are probably good sideboard options if you're not trying to tackle a silly 4p Burglar's Turn challenge though. |
Sep 11, 2023yea good for 1-2 burglar not 3-4. perhaps its overall more efficient, if one is not burglar and try to spam and recycle Woodmen's Path moreoften. then there should be enough to put in on 2 locations. (and / or) perhaps get one of the locations back in the staging (with e.g. Celduin Traveler) a deck with no burglar and 3 Woodmen's Path could play 2 of them each round with high chances (3 base, much carddraw, drinkingsongs, runes... and all the mentioned recycleoptions. perhaps some additional Galadhrim Weaver and Master of the Forge could get to 6 burglaritems per round insted of 4 and perhaps more constant Woodmen's Path |
Sep 11, 2023Sure. But the challenge we're specifically trying to complete at the Con is to win a (Non Helm's Deep) game with four Burglar's Turn decks. |

why not using Widfast to double the amount of burglary? she is the only option to "travel" to 2 locations within a turn
