Note: This deck uses community-made cards from the A Long-Extended Party expansions.
Two of the strongest archetypes in the game are Dwarf and Noldor and they share one key trait: an aversion to cards. If you combine them together, you'll quickly end up with no cards in your hand and no cards in your deck. Consequently, you'll also end up with no encounter cards either, because once this deck gets rolling it absolutely steamrolls!
The keys to this deck are Dáin Ironfoot and The Last Alliance. This contract can be a bit of a brain-burner, but here we keep things simple. Use it on Dáin to buff ALL your characters (early- to mid-game) or on Lords of the Eldar (late-game) for some truly impressive stats.
This deck does start off somewhat slow, and usually you'll only have Arwen Undómiel to quest with Turn 1. But by Turn 4 or 5, you'll be in the middle of a massive Dwarf and Noldor swarm.
How to Use this Deck:
- Setup: Mulligan for Elven-light. Secondary targets are King Under the Mountain or Steward of Gondor.
- Turn 1: Things are the most dicey in the early game. Unless you have a cheap ally, you'll likely just be questing with Arwen for 4 . Galadriel is generally used for her card draw until mid-to-late game when you equip her with Nenya. Dáin has to stay ready to give his buffs and serve as an emergency defender. Be prepared for some threat increase and/or early damage.
- The Swarm: By Turns 2 and 3 you should have several good targets for the contract. Remember, your first Dwarf will benefit from the contract's cost reduction, since two Noldor characters are already in play. Look for a Fili + Kili + A Very Good Tale combo, Elven Jeweler play, or a Zigil Miner into Ered Luin Miner to get your board state built up. By Turns 4 and 5 you should be playing all the allies in your hand, or mining them off your deck. You'll build up an unstoppable army that will snowball through the rest of the quest.
- Attachments: Steward of Gondor should go on a hero, typically Galadriel. The first Unexpected Courage should go on Dáin Ironfoot, and depending on the quest, the second can go on Galadriel so she can use her ability and contribute her in the same round.
- Events: I really slept on Lay of the Nauglamír for a long time. Looking at the top 10 cards for two allies at 5 cost felt pretty steep. But in this deck, this card rocks! You can discard your Hidden Caches or Ered Luin Miners, along with Elven-light, Lords of the Eldar, and any redundant copies of attachments you no longer need. It gets the cards into the discard deck that you want, while recycling the cards you want to keep. Also, it's pretty common to go through this deck more than once during the course of a game, so two copies of Will of the West are included.
- Allies: Imladris Stargazer + Zigil Miner is such a beautiful combo. Once you're equipped with King Under the Mountain, you can really sequence a massive planning phase. You'll have to use Stand and Fight to get Imladris Caregiver on the board, but once you do, they'll really boost your allies' staying power.
Happy Mining!

Aug 31, 2023Can you use "The Last Alliance" on "Lords of the Eldar" since "The Last Alliance" says, "A card in your hand or in play under your control" and "Lords of the Eldar" can only be played from your discard pile? |
