doomguard 2220
a thematic brothers, sons of elrond deck
i think nearly every 3-hunters-deck with them +x is better, but it is a different way to play them.
the benefit of this deck, after flipping you have guarenteed with important attachments equipped brothers with some extrares to spare. so if endure to that point there are plenty of ranged attacks + plenty of sentinel defenses availaible.
i recomand it only in multiplayer where it takes the combatpart, if playing solo reduce attachments and add more allies with willpower.
strategy
You are not allowed to gain res by attachments but you can get res by events, so, Captain's Wisdom and Proud Hunters are your best friends. mulligan for them. remember you cannot only use res to buy allies and attachments, the brothers can use them to ready in combat.
the full equipped brothers are:
-
Elladan : 1 Golden Belt + Rivendell Bow+ 3 restricted weapons preferable one of them the War Axe + 1-3 DĂșnedain Mark that results in a ranged attack of 10-14 that is repeatable that often he have res.
-
Elrohir elvenmail + shield + 1-2 DĂșnedain Warning results in defense of 5-6 with 7 hp and sentinel. if more defense is needed, give the Golden Belt to him and give him another shield
little advices:
-
all these attachments are good and need no order when to play. everything you can achieve before flipping is good, so usually with flipping you gain the important missing one (e.g. Elven Mail for sentinel or Rivendell Bow for ranged.
-
the allies are more for safety, if somehow more attack or defense is needed. except the Honour Guard who is for preventing dmg.
-
Gandalf + Sneak Attack is good in every deck where it is playable.
special advice for solo, reduce attachments (no need for sentinel or ranged) fill cheap allies with willpower and add 1 Faramir. you can catch him while flipping and pay then to get your willlpower on the table. the sideboard is full of cheap and helpfull allies (presuming you take faramir with contract). specially the allies that ready a character or let it go unexhausted to quest are value in the earlygame.

Jun 21, 2023good card or a Forth, The Three Hunters! -version, also like Armored Destrier for Elrohir, in this version i would keep the retricted for weapons and armour at least in its original purpose: fighting in multiplayer. |
Jun 21, 2023I think the contract would preclude using DĂșnedain Remedy unless it's specifically for multiplayer. |
Jun 21, 2023Looks like these heroes can be healed once the Contract flips to B side? |
Jun 21, 2023Ah you're right - I thought the contract only differed in the forced effect. |
Oct 14, 2023Only grudge I have is there is no sensible way to ready them once the contract is flipped, if playing solo you are missing a lot of questing power then. |
Oct 14, 2023see: "i recomand it only in multiplayer where it takes the combatpart, if playing solo reduce attachments and add more allies with willpower." some refreshing could be made with contract and hitpoints, and you can add Cram and Magic Ring |
Steed of the North could get them questing with their good WP stats too. Would take up a restricted slot on each though.
