As discussed on the CotR presents feed, this is my Bard the Bowman Grey Wanderer deck that I will be bringing to Con of the Rings 2022.
You can listen to Bardlee and myself discuss Con specific deckbuilding in the first episode of our Road To Rings limited series here: https://shows.acast.com/cotr-tardy-takes/episodes/road-to-rings-ep-1 and then check out the discussion of this deck, and the others that we will be bringing, in our second episode here: https://shows.acast.com/cotr-tardy-takes/episodes/road-to-rings-ep-2
I’ll admit this one is a little uninspired compared with my other decks I’m bringing, but unfortunately Against the Shadow can require you to bring some dumber and less fun decks, so here we are. AtS had a lot of encounter cards that want monosphere decks, and tactics in particular, so this was my answer to a monotactics deck that I can run even when other people at the table are using the typical Hirgon, Eowyn, Theoden, Imrahil, etc type heroes.
It is a pretty standard The Grey Wanderer deck that is relying on some of the Secrecy cards to help accelerate the board state and make up for the missing heroes. Unlike most GW decks, I won’t usually be grabbing Strider with the contract, instead opting for either a weapon or Rohan Warhorse to be able to start the game off with tons of Ranged action advantage in the combat phase with Bard.
I doubt I’ll be playing the deck against quests that don’t require Battle and Siege, but did add enough willpower in there that I hopefully won’t be dragging the group down too badly. It does share some cards with my Eagle deck, so I might start with this one built and then pack it up once I’ve given up playing AtS quests.
