Wandering Ranger 55
This deck mostly functions on bouncing hobbits in and out of play again, with healthy dose of enemy with engagement cost higher than your threat thrown in there too. The main strategy is to be bouncing allies as much as posable using Lily Cotton and a Fast Hitch to give them Tom's boost round after round.
Some fun interactions in this deck
-Using Rosie's ability on Lily to then pass those extra stats onto an ally.
-Grave Cairn is so much fun with two allies with Tom's bonus.
-There and Back Again is amazing with any of the enters play hobbits to double their effects.
-Curious Brandybuck can provide some free and repeatable attack power.
-Thorongil on Pippin gets you some nice card draw and engagement control.
-Archery damage is pretty much non existent as you can jut deal it on an ally who will be leaving play at the end of the phase.
Weaknesses I have found are resource acceleration due to the fact that you are constantly paying for the same allies over and over again, so Red Book of Westmarch is a must usually. Questing can be weak early game, again Red Book of Westmarch can help out with this, but by late game questing should be just fine.
Merry could probably fill Pippin's role a lot better, but I like the lower threat and I partiality created this deck just to use some lesser used MotK targets. The Arkenstone could be really useful with all the unique characters in play, but in practice it only helps about three characters as the ally count doesn't really grow that much with so many returning to your hand. This deck is of course not legal as it needs to use two MotK contracts and you are only allowed to choose one contract, but who’s to stop you. Thank you for taking the time to checkout this deck, feedback and suggestions are greatly appreciated, thanks.

Jul 06, 2022Cool deck! with all the unique hobbit allies, you really get some good work out of Merry. If you wanted even more , consider The One Ring with Power of Command. Two other things to note: Wouldn't it be easier to start with (MotK) Rosie Cotton instead of (MotK) Lily Cotton? Yes, you lose the readying ability, but I feel like it could provide some early much needed shield or attack boosts, especially in a quest that has a big enemy from the start. Second, you technically cannot select two MotK heroes, since the contract only allows for one. :) Totally not a big deal, since it's a small rule to break, but it is a rule. An easy way to fix this would be, as |

(MotK) Rosie Cotton would be good for the early heavy hitting enemies, but for most quests I find Tom with a Hobbit Cloak or Ring Mail does the job and if a big enemy gets revealed before I am ready for it there are plenty of events to bring in an ally to chump. Yes, as you pointed out it is not allowed to have two contracts, but I wanted to try MotK Pippin just cause I wanted to make a deck using some lesser used MotK targets. Thanks for the feedback. |
Have you considered using some Resourceful for resource generation since you will likely stay in secrecy for the whole game? Also Valiant Sacrifice could be interesting for card draw.
