This deck takes advantage of the unique synergy between Amarthiúl and Elfhelm to make Marty a great attacker/defender. He already has an amazing stat line, but the bonus from his Rohan friend can push him over the top with very little investment. The goal is to get either Roheryn or Armored Destrier on Amarthiúl. This gives him a static +1 , but because he gains the icon when you engage an enemy, he will also have +1 for combat. Add a few Dunedain Signals and a Sword of Númenor to him and he becomes a savage warrior.
The rest of this deck is a pretty straight forward Gondor deck. Get Visionary Leadership on Denethor and pump out allies with Steward of Gondor and A Very Good Tale. Galadriel is here to help you fetch your mounts and Gandalf is here for his typical Sneak Attack shenanigans.
Aragorn has a similar interaction with Elfhelm once he has Roheryn attached. I have included a suite of cards in the sideboard if you want to sub out Amarthiúl for the king of kings. Note that Celebrían's Stone gives Aragorn the icon which further boosts his when he has a mount attached. Also, this deck is light on multiplayer interactions, so check the sideboard for more ways to help out the team.
Thanks for checking out the deck.

Sep 21, 2016I really like the idea. As soon as Elfhelm was spoiled, I thought in Amarthíul as his ideal partner. I tried it in a Rohan deck, to use Westfold Horse Breeder to fetch mounts, but it didn't work quite well. How is this working for you in quests demanding high willpower since the beginning, like massing at osgiliath? |

While we are on the topic of this deck's weaknesses, another problem it has is what to do about duplicate uniques. There are several unique cards here which means it commonly runs into the issue of being unable to play them. I tried Erestor, but he felt clunky and out of place. Any suggestions are welcome. |
this deck looks great. I was thinking of a mono leadership deck with Elfhelm and this is really close to what I had. I think Steed of the North will be good in it when that comes out (even though I panned that card when I first saw it). well done!
