Rating:
- Preferred Player Count: 2 - 4
- Complexity: High
- Time Intensity: Medium
- Focus: Balanced
Synopsis:
A Caldara deck features a unique way of playing the game. The purpose of this deck is to get some good allies in your discard pile and then discard Caldara to get 2/3/4 of them in play at no cost. The deck has several discarding abilities (eg. Círdan the Shipwright and Arwen Undómiel) to get those allies in your discard pile. To enhance Caldara's effect, you can play Prince Imrahil and/or Sword-thain. Finally, Narya and Gandalf are included to give you some extra interesting choices. Cards like Elven-light, Lindir and Silver Harp are useful to keep your hand full.
How it's played:
Prince Imrahil (or Sword-thain in addition to an affordable target for it) are cards you really like to see early on since they help you a lot in getting as much value out of Caldara as possible. They are in a lot of cases (but not all cases!) the cards you want to mulligan for. Having good, expensive allies like Jubayr, Northern Tracker or Glorfindel in your opening hand is of course also very useful, depending on what you need. For example, in a 4 player game that taxes you heavily on locations, you probably want to keep a hand that includes one or two Northern Trackers, even if there is no Prince Imrahil (or Sword-Thain in addition to an affordable target) in sight. We guess the best way to sum it up is mulligan for a hand that enables a good Caldara trigger suited to your situation.
Strengths: Early willpower, A balanced board-state after triggering Caldara
Weaknesses: Early attack

Stupid question, but if you have ally Prince Imrahil in play and discard Caldara, do you get to grab 2 or 3 allies? Does he become a hero in time?
