Discard Pile

Turgon 779
Yesterday, I almost quit on this deck. Nothing ever worked; we tried three playthroughs, and every time all my good cards got discarded, and I could never buy anything no matter what my hand looked like. But I decided to try it one more time, and this time I finally got Steward of Gondor. And boy did that work!
By the time we finished, I had flooded the game with 37 allies. That's THIRTY SEVEN ALLIES!!!
This is an ally swarm deck powered by Ents, Outlands, pretty much every other low cost ally I could find, and tons of resource generation. The strategy is pretty simple, mulligan for Steward of Gondor, and optimize every round's resources to pay for as much as possible. If you get Steward out early, this deck is very consistent, given that there's three copies of nearly every card. Don't worry if a nice ally gets discarded; you have Stand and Fight and Men of the West for that.
As far as attachments go, I put Steward of Gondor on Círdan the Shipwright, and then you're able to pay for Elven-light if you have extra money. I usually give Song of Battle, Protector of Lórien, and Unexpected Courage to Círdan the Shipwright too. You might think Spare Hood and Cloak is useless, but it's actually incredibly good if you can use it to ready Errand-riders and Faramir. By the end of the last game, I was questing by myself for 95! Everything else is pretty self-explanatory.
I did consider replacing Círdan the Shipwright and Narya with Galadriel and Nenya. I didn't try it, but I could envision it working pretty well. Not like you need the extra action advantage, though!
I'd love any comments or suggestions, and have fun completely overwhelming the encounter deck!

Oct 07, 2021cirdan is overkill here. you will not have problems gaining cards you have problems, paying them, so imo Arwen Undómiel makes much more sense than cirdan. 1 less willpower, but 1 res more from the start (can also go to erestor, so 2 spheres) and after that if needed helps very much more than an additional looked at-card that will be discarded. with her you can play from the start, courage and all the nice 2-cost-spiritcards. the one ring + Inner Strength and or Power of Command can help for early things. if taking Power of Command more unique allies make sense. would not take the ents. would take Erebor Hammersmith (get you attachements back, that are discarded and are solid) and Ioreth |
Aug 17, 2022I don't think that the one ring works too well with A Perilous Voyage. |
Aug 17, 2022i think The One Ring is not this much of a problem. you have 1 thread until you reach limit and after that the contract reduce to 35 (instead of 40 its at least thread-elemination minus 10 so 35 with ring and not 40) you only will flip the contract earlier, so perhaps it is a good thing. quessing 2 thread per round you have 10+ rounds, mostly szenarious are done by that time |
