What do you mean by saying that Thengel triggers with Sneak Attack and a Rohan ally? Putting with Sneak Attack in play a Rohan ally which has a self-discarding ability?

you are right, it does not automaticially. it returns to hand after Sneak Attack. but you can sneak-in a ally that can be discarded, like the ones in the list. i will correct that

It seems like Thengel might be hard to trigger in this deck. You only have 5 or so allies that discard themselves (plus 1 event), and no Gamling/Gúthwinë to recycle them. Théoden might be better value?

Also, no Keys of Orthanc?

there are 8 cards to trigger thengel. thengel can only be triggert once per round. seems like a good ratio to me, specially with Need Brooks No Delay that helps me to search for such an ally if no one is in hand. if i get 4-5 allys with thengels ability into play it seems valuable for me.

what card would you cut for the keys?

but so or so, i change Déorwine with Elfhelm a cheap card more that discards himself can be payed by every one.

Have you tested the deck yet?

Even with 8 allies that trigger Thengel, finding one each round might be difficult. Also consider that the discard abilities on cards like Bowman and Lancer won't always be possible to trigger. What if you reveal no enemies? Or what if you have enough attack power to kill the enemy already? You could still discard them for another ally, but the odds of trading them for something better are pretty slim.

I wonder if you could make a more reliable engine by getting Gamling out with Need Brooks No Delay, then use Thengel's resource with Grima's ability to play a Escort from Edoras each round.

Gamling is a good idea. to get an ally i consider not this hard. carddraw is not this bad. and 8 of 50 + 2 brooks is not really hard for the startinghand. but nevertheless gamling is a good improvement

if i do not need the discarding, then the game went well and a win is not unlikely => good deck :)

have not testet, i am more the theoretical type ;) (play more with friends than alone at the table or octg alone)

its hard to change a spiritcard... would take The Galadhrim's Greeting

btw. playing an escort of edoras each round seems not this much a goal for this deck. for that, i think, lothriel is better.

here i want to play The Muster of Rohan a thematic big charge of rohans....and make the most of it, and therfore, thengel seems the best.

if no muster comes its still a playable deck.

I like the use of the Shining Shield and Valiant Sword. Only thing I see difficult is ally recurring but that is already addressed. What if you used Guthwine instead of the Valiant Sword? I think attack is lacking from the heroes but that's nothing new with Rohan (other than Eomer).

i made the deck thinking, sneakattack makes a discard. but it doesnt. then more recycle seems right, to trigger thengel more often.

so replace valiant sword with Gúthwinë is a good thing.

• greetings for gamling
• Elfhelm for Déorwine

@Seastanmiss your suggestion what card you would replace for Keys of Orthanc

@doomguard I would substitute Magic Ring or Keen as Lances for Keys of Orthanc

I would add more attack power, maybe Herugrim or Gúthwinë for allies because other than Éowyn's effect Treebeard is the only high-attack ally you have besides Gandalf. I can see you having trouble beating quests such as The Antlered Crown because of this deck's low-attack. Overall though I like this deck and the idea of free Need Brooks No Delay, a.k.a the best card in ALeP. Maybe add three copies?

herugrim is not worth it. and soo much attackpower is not needed. it sums up. if theodred has the sword he has attack 4 then lets say 3-4 allies can attack and get about 5 attack sums up to 9 thats enough for the most enemys. and perhaps an enemy is wounded by Westfold Lancer. if an early big enemy comes, the eowyn have to do her part and thats without Treebeard

and for very crucial rounds i hope i have Éomund who sacrifice himself to get a full attack with all others. (#eomund primary target for Need Brooks No Delay or Thengel
