DECK NAME - Gandalf Cometh!

  1. Aragorn - attach Dunedain Pipe and 3rd copy of UC
  2. Beregond - attach Blood of Numenor, Magic Ring, and 2x UC. Dedicated defender. Buff w Arwen.
  3. Glorfindel - attach Asfaloth and Light of Valinor
  4. Gandalf ally - attach Gandalf's staff, Shadowfax and Wizard Pipe. Get him in play asap. Should never leave play if scenario goes well.
  5. Bilbo - added benefit of grabbing a pipe out of deck
  6. Dundedain Lookout - use to cancel When Revealed effects present on a few enemies in this quest; not necessary on quest stage 4
  7. Ioreth - can serve as exhausted ally for some shadow effects and for healing
  8. Threat reduction - will need to compensate for Gandalf and for Magic Ring and Heirs of Earendil: 3x Galadriel's Handmaiden, Beregond ability, Elrond's Counsel, and Aragorn's ability
  9. Card Draw - Daeron's Runes (usually will have some trash cards in hand), Pipes (helps with the junk), Gandalf's staff (though I usually use for resource generation), and 3X Master of the Forge (really only ever need 2 in play)
  10. Resource generation - Magic Ring and Gandalf's Staff. load up Beregond for Blood of Numenor effect
  11. Location issues - this is a real problem in this quest. Basically you don't ever want to trigger the forced effects on the locations. Adding enemies to the encounter deck is bad news. Asfaloth, Heirs of Earendil and Thror's Key should keep you from getting location locked.

Starting cards to look for:

  • Light of Valinor
  • Gandalf (and his staff)
  • Magic Ring or UC for readying Beregond
  • Asfaloth, Heirs of Earendil, or Thror's key (play Thror's key turn one if you draw it)
  • Bilbo or one of the pipes for card draw
  • Master of the Forge

Thanks this is a really good deck for this quest. Very clever use of Gandalf OHAUH plus attachments. The only thing I'd query is Wizard Pipe.

@258678 thanks for the feedback. Been a whole since I played this deck, so you may be right. The Wizard Pipe is really just there for card draw. If you have a dead card in your hand you can swap it with something that may be useful. Same thing with Dunedain Pipe. And Bilbo can fetch either one.
