Seemed like a fun self-imposed challenge to make a deck that starts at 49 threat but can still win some quests. Comments and suggestions welcome!

Nov 19, 2020Hmm. I didn't realize if I published an update the comment log would disappear from before. I added Drinking Song based on Doomguard's suggestion from version 1.0. Is there a way to get all the comments into the same log? Maybe I need to publish it in a different way? Either way, Heed the Dream is an interesting choice since I probably have enough resources to spare, but I'm not sure what to cut from Lore. I think Daeron's Runes are pretty strong. Perhaps I can cut 1x Woodmen's Clearing, since I can't use it turn 1 anyway, and that's when I really need the threat reduction most urgently. I agree that it's a hard challenge, but it would be cool if it can work! :) |
Nov 19, 2020o.k. now you have it twice ;) I’m not sure what you mean by “don’t play cards with reveal during setup.” Are you talking about the 0 cost Dunedain allies? not "cards" i wanted to say szenarios, my bad ;) and thats because cursed. 1 cursed in the setup (before 1. round) and its lost. @pillars, if aragorn get the steward, you can pay them soon. with help of envoy, sooner, and if you put in a captains wisdom, with very much luck (wisdom and envoy) 1. round. another thing, would replace 1 ranger with thalion |
Nov 19, 2020This definitely looks like a challenge! As far as I understand, you only survive Turn 1 if you draw either Favor of the Valar and/or Elrond's Counsel. To offset that risk, you need as much card draw as possible. Even if you have to sacrifice other cards, I highly recommend 2 each of Daeron's Runes, Heed the Dream and Drinking Song. You already have Daeron's Runes, which is obviously the most critical (as each copy effectively reduces your deck size by 2). Once you have survived the initial few turns, what is the plan to keep getting the threat down? Have you considered The Galadhrim's Greeting and Keen as Lances as cards to play in mid-game? Last suggestion - 2 copies of Vilya. It will get a lot of the expensive cards in play for free and keep going through your deck for another card every turn (even if it only gets put on the bottom of the deck). |
Nov 19, 2020he have in addition: sercret vigil and sneak-gandalf and perhaps double back. but with captains wisdom, either keen as lances or galadrims greeting seems a good idea to me. with a 2. drinking song, the probabilities do not seem so little, to gain one of the possibilities. so, my suggestions:
that will be:
with mulligan and 2 drinking songs and 2 darons runes and 2 seen cards from cirdan, i would say the chances are very high to survive the 1. round if he does the alterations. |
Dec 02, 2020-1 Aragorn (replace Quickbeam if you still want an Aragorn) +1 The One Ring Your are no more at 49, but still at the edge of eliminating threat, and a have a reliant way to stay alive. |

I like the challenge, but this is extremely difficult to pull off. You need to starting hand draw favor of the valar, or elrond's counsel. I might replace Daeron's Runes in favor of Heed the Dream to give you another chance to get elrond's counsel.
I really wish you could run Beregond but you can't get the threat high enough with the other heroes, I don't think. Elrond and Aragorn max out their spheres, and Quickbeam can only be replaced with Gwaihir
