An updated gondor swarm deck based on Pillars of the Kings.
The idea is that Beravor and Pillars of the Kings enable to draw more cards in the first turn than Erestor. This can make incredible starts without the drawbacks of Erestor.
Once in Valour I benefit mostly from the effect of Soldier of Gondor but also from Veteran of Osgiliath and Angbor the Fearless.
There are some Lore cards to spend resources from Beravor. There are also Envoy of Pelargir and Pelargir Ship Captain to smooth the resources.
My advice is to not discard other copies of Pillars of the Kings on Daeron's Runes because you will probably need them to lower your threat in late game. Even if Gandalf can help you to manage threat too.
I don't know if it's better than the classic Erestor version, but I find it very effective too.

Dec 23, 2024its risky to go to 40 first round, i see defenseproblems within this deck. even the core-hillltroll could make problems. but i would just add some Shining Shield and Open the Armory to make some good defener 1. round, perhaps add a Hauberk of Mail for Boromir with good defense the 2 true sons of gondor can endure until enough allies are on board. |

I personally would just not use Pillar of the Kings on turn 1 especially on scenarios similar to Journey Along the Anduin and there's a high chance that there will be allies that i can use their help to chump block on. Still, I agree that this has very low defense at the start but once you get it going, it's pretty much hard to lose. I play 2 handed so I guess the 2nd deck would most likely handle either the questing or defending. This kind of deck might be weaker when played solo. |
Dec 24, 2024if you not use Pillars of the Kings in turn 1 (or sometimes in turn 2) then you mostly can skip it at all. you only get the 3-card-bonus if you use it with thread of 30 or below. only for reducing thread the Favor of the Valar is better. to raise to 40 seems not worth for me if you do not get the 4 cards. only for the 3 different allies i would not do it. additional card: Armored Destrier is rev and very usefull |
Dec 24, 2024I'll definitely try the Favor of the Valar and Armored Destrier as replacement to Pillar of The Kings since those are better options. :D |
I actually prefer this more than the Erestor Version since I don't like discarding my cards per end of turn like a deck-builder game similar to Legendary Marvel or Hogwarts Battle
