This i s a The Grey Wanderer deck with Glorfindel playing alognside Gandalf and his Noldor partners. Put Strider in play with the contract and mulligan for Gandalf or Resourceful copies. Gandalf and Glorfindel can quest without exhausting for 9 when you are able to pay for the Wizard. Look then for Celduin Travelers and Arwen Undómiel to complete your numbers. Until then, use The One Ring and Master cards (keep the Strength and Courage one in your hand during Setup if you also have a copy of Guardian of Rivendell or Gandalf. Keep Inner Strength if you are not lucky) to survive the early game.

Of course, a Wild Stallion to Gandalf is an excellent pairing.

Then, defend in mid-game with Guardian of Rivendell riding in Wild Stallions. There you have the Imladris Caregiver / Elven-light trick available. And reduce your threat as much as you can with Elrond's Counsel, The Galadhrim's Greeting and Dwarven Tombs.

Shadowfax can be used in multiplayer situations. But in solo games is a little bit expensive for a redying card.

Isn't Word of Command a bit hard to play, having to forfeit Gandalf's actions for the round? You might also consider putting in Narya for some shenanigans.

idea is nice, but it misses some carddraw i think. staff an elvenlight are good, but not good enough i think. would at least 1 gleowine and perhaps a bilbo with pipe, or the wizardpipe and treasurehunter. protector of lorien seems not right for me, u will not have this much cards to make it worth. would max test of will and reduce master ring by 1. i would think about 1-2 Fair and Perilous. wouldbe +5 attack for one attack for the greatest of elfish heroes. i would think shadowfax is important, because of it, gandalf can defend twice (or defend and attack or use word of command), and it is cheaper than a guardian of rivendell (because no discard).

@doomguard yes but you can only play off-sphere cards with the contract in the Planning Phase, so Gandalf would be exhausted come the Quest Phase.

The card draw is provided with Caregiver, Elvenlight combo + Staff (more situational). And in game play has been enough. Protector is for discard Elven Light in case that you don't have Guardians in hand or Caregivers in play.

Word of command is only if you need a very especific card in mid game and you can get Gandalf out of combat phase. If it is not necessary, are used to cheap the cost of Guardians or boost the Protector of Lorien.

Shadowfax maybe is a good choice. But sometimes I have to discard Gandalf for threat (when you have all the guardians out)...and lose a 3 cost card hurts.

I've only recently bought into the game (having played a lot with friends) but I can't wait until I have the cards to try this deck! This is true solo.

@mrdavOh, yes. I played this true solo and also in 2 player games. It works fine in my playthroughs. Tell me how it works for you when you can try it! And change everything you want. Other people in comments suggest Shadowfax and Narya. It also works fine!
