This deck was built to make use of the new Lothíriel hero while concentrating on the Gondor trait to maximize the willpower boost of Visionary Leadership and action advantage of her father, Prince Imrahil. I chose Denethor as the third hero mostly for his initial resource boost to help muster more allies quickly.
Opening hand wants to find Steward of Gondor, a cheap ally, and Visionary Leadership. Both attachments will go on Denethor
Lothíriel's Ability Ideally, you want to get a benefit from ally played besides the boost. Soldier of Gondor for a card, Envoy of Pelargir or Squire of the Citadel for a resource boost. Mablung provides versatility in aggressively engaging an enemy to remove threat from the staging area or boosting engagement cost to help build your board. Damrod can be discarded after questing for threat reduction. This is only threat reduction included in the deck currently. Faramir can be used to pull an enemy down as well. An argument can be made for Faramir, but I found the to already be sufficient, and I wanted to try out the newer lore version. Knight of Belfalas is great for returning excess allies destroyed in combat not put into play from A Very Good Tale.
Card Draw: Already mentioned Soldier of Gondor and Knight of Belfalas help get some allies into your hand. Rod of the Steward on Denethor to spend extra resources or Valiant Sacrifice when allies are shuffled back into the deck should keep enough cards in your hand.
Combat: Denethor is the primary defender with Blood of Númenor. Knight of the White Tower is also a hearty defender that can survive a weaker enemy. Chumping other allies to handle higher attacks is also an option. For Gondor! can boost defense or attack to quickly dispatch enemies as needed.

Jan 29, 2020Rod of the Steward helps. You also want to try to avoid hardcasting Soldier of Gondor and Knight of Belfalas and priortize them for Lothíriel's ability. Even if you have the resources for them, you should save them for subsequent turns to get more allies. Valiant Sacrifice also helps. Other players in the game may be able to assist you as well. You will likely be able to give them resources from Envoy of Pelargir since Noble is such a common trait to have on heroes. Squire of the Citadel will help with this as well if they have a Gondor hero. Otherwise, uses these resources on Denethor to fuel Rod of the Steward. Once your threat hits 40, Soldier of Gondor can snag several allies in one round, so it's really important that he continues to get cycled in the deck. You won't have a ton of cards, but smart play will leave you with a sufficient amount. I was never in a position where I didn't have an ally to play to Lothíriel's ability. |
May 14, 2020Ancient Mathom might be a nice add |
May 14, 2020I tried Ancient Mathom, but since I don't play solo it wasn't reliable enough. I made a change to this deck a couple months back to include Erestor to help find card draw cards, and that helped out a lot. Haven't updated online yet though. |
May 15, 2020Even though is not Gondor, Glorfindel works great with Lothiriel, as you can put it into play, discard a card to ready him, and use it for a A Very Good Tale |
How do you manage middle to late game card draw? Because Lothiriel's ability is swallowing allies really quickly back into your deck.
