The Purple Wizard 1195
This deck was designed to play Helm's Deep in the Nightmare Campaign with Chad.
I made a mistake building this...I thought stage 1B allowed me to bring in ANY ally, so I was planning on a mulligan for Treebeard or Legolas. Instead it says you can bring in any ally of a sphere you have a hero in, so I probably would have dropped Treebeard and one Marksman of Lórien for two copies of Faramir and two of Orophin
Oh well.
The general idea here is pretty straightforward. Get Gandalf all his toys, bring in a bunch of ranged attackers, and beef up Thranduil and Gandalf's defenses so they can survive some of the giant attacks in nightmare mode, and use a variety of readying effects to make sure we can defend everything with our sturdy heroes.
~Steward of Gondor is in Chad's deck, so I had to look for other ways to accelerate resources. Captain's Wisdom does that, along with Gandalf's Staff and O Lórien!.
~Chad had some threat reduction for me in his deck so I felt comfortable having only one copy of The Galadhrim's Greeting in mine. This is not a heavy threat-raising quest but you do need SOME, especially with a starting threat of 34.
~Path of Need can be FANTASTIC for Helm's Deep, where it can stay in play for several rounds if you're lucky.
~Sword that was Broken and Celebrían's Stone are for Aragorn, both to boost willpower and to allow our decks to use his resources more effectively.
Strength of Arms only works if each hero has a PRINTED icon.
