Darkling Door 6641
This is a thematic deck built for an ongoing series on my blog, Darkling Door.
Theme: Glorfindel
Played Against: Nightmare The Weather Hills
"Glorfindel was tall and straight; his hair was of shining gold, his face fair and young and fearless and full of joy; his eyes were bright and keen, and his voice like music; on his brow sat wisdom, and in his hand was strength."
—Many Meetings, The Fellowship of the Ring
Strategy
This is a surprisingly competitive deck that aims to take full advantage of Glorfindel.
Mulligan for: Light of Valinor. The deck does not function at all until you find this card!
Tips
- Light of Valinor goes on Glorfindel, so he can quest and attack each round.
- Try to clear a Location each round, which readies Idraen to attack as well. Between Glorfindel and Idraen you have 6 right off the bat, which is often enough to kill early-game Enemies.
- Use Asfaloth strategically to ready Idraen at times when she can be of the greatest assistance.
- Elrond is your main defender. This means that in the early game, you're going to be relying on using either Lembas or Miruvor to ready him and use his for the quest.
- Tale of Tinúviel can also turn Idraen into a one-round defender if you play it immediately after Idraen exhausts to defend, giving her +3 from exhausting Glorfindel and +3 for the counterstrike as well.
- Late-game, you can either stop questing with Elrond entirely or use the "put it back on the deck" option of Miruvor along with a Master of the Forge to retrieve it.

I really like this deck I’ve always had a soft spot for Lorefindel and the synergies in this deck are sweet!
