Another solo deck based on the Grey Wanderer contract :D

Fellowship is a proxy for the Grey Wanderer contract. The contract lets you start with Nenya in play.

Thanks to the contract's action, you can use Galadriel's and nenya's actions every turn.

Timely Aid is playable only if you play it as the first card in planing phase. You can't play it the turn you draw it after playing Daeron's Runes or Deep Knowledge, which is a bit of a downside for the deck. Still you could use A Good Harvest to play Timely Aid anytime you want during the planing phase.

A Very Good Tale too is only playable as the first card in planing phase, so you need to play it on allies already in play. But it is still a very effective card to make the deck punchier.

I find it lacks a bit of originality, but the fact that you can use Galadriel and Nenya every turn is good enough to give it a try!

How are you paying for Steward of Gondor? As it is considered a unique card, it still requires two leadership resources. Or am I missing something?

What about including Sword-thain? Maybe it's an odd choice, but as you already have 3 copies of Resourceful in the deck this could be another (though maybe roundabout) way to gain resources over the long haul. Thought the difference between 2 cost and 4 cost is pretty steep early in the game when it would give you the most return, so probably a bad idea overall.

Indeed you need A Good Harvest to play Steward. Sword-thain is too expensive compared to Resourceful that costs 1 in Secrecy. Thanks for the comment!

Oh, right! Of course.

Have you had any trouble actually getting Steward on the table since it is a two card setup? Seems a bit risky, but then you still have all those 1 cost Resourcefuls.

Maybe I should just play the deck a few times, and then answer my own questions ;P

It can be a bit long to get the 2 cards together, but I wouldn't say it is risky ^^ The deck is virtually a 35 cards deck with all the effects that thin it, and you draw 2 cards per turn with Galadriel. I didn't calculate the probability to get both cards, but I think it's worth it ;)

Actually there is a odds calculator in ringsdb, this is great! So the odds are 42% to get both cards in hand after drawing in resource phase and drawing with Galadriel. And that without even a mulligan!

Oh nice! The Grey Wanderer is definitely my favorite contract so far, so looking forward to giving it a try.

i would max gandalfs and add sneak attack. its so flexible. at the beginning it can help to get more cards to get gifts and steward earlier. lateron to keep secrecy or defend/attack against a big monster.

is the good tale this good in this deck? start with 2 cards less (one ring +ruling ring) if you draw 2 crds every round+deep knowledge, + (my versions ) gandalfs + daarons runes, there is the possibility to empty your deck to early or left to much good cards in the discard. in my version i would go +2 gandalfs +3 sneak attack and leave 2 ithilien tracker 2 good tales and 1 elfhelm.

with gifts i mean harvest... srry

Sneak Attack would only be playable in the planing phase, so you would waste gandal's stats.

I think A Very Good Tale is necessary because it makes the setup really quicker. Without it I think the setup would be to slow. And emptying his deck is not a problem if you are setup correctly :D
