This deck uses the spoiled Gray Wanderer contract which makes a one hero deck viable.
I have always wanted to boost Glorfindel with Herugrim but trying to make him Rohan was too much of a pain but since the contract allows you to start with a 1 cost attachment, I could finally build this deck.
I mulligan for Strider, Resourceful, Treebeard or Gandalf. I will mill the deck for Herugrim and Golden Shield with Heed the Dream. Once Gandalf comes I spend money on keeping threat low and picking my battles as I wish. I keep my ally count down to maximize Strider's impact.
The deck has done fairly well against Journey Along the Anduin and a few wins of Massing at Osgoliath which is a tough quest for one hero due to the third quest stage.
More tweaks in the days ahead. I am not entirely happy with this deck but I wanted to post anyways.

Nov 28, 2019Forget my comment I just realized you put Nor am I a Stranger in play ;) But looking at how the contract is worded, Nor am I a Stranger must be in your deck. |
Nov 28, 2019Nor am I a Stranger is definitely in the deck. I have it in the sideboard as it's not part of the regular setup. Thanks for commenting! |
Nov 28, 2019How are you playing Heed the Dream and Golden Shield since they are not cards? Are you playing Heed the Dream during the Action window of the Planning phase and since it is non-unique, you are playing it via the contract ("first non-unique card you play each planning phase does not require a resource match")? For that to be legal, you can't play any non-unique Ally or Attachment prior to playing Heed the Dream that Planning phase. Playing unique cards like Herugrim and then Heed the Dream should be legal. As such, Heed the Dream will put Golden Shield in your hand, but Golden Shield can't be played via the contract because it is unique. Am I missing another way to play unique cards in your situation? I think the The Grey Wanderer is a powerful contract card that I am trying to build a couple decks around. The ability to play off sphere cards is powerful, but it seems to add some complications in trying to play them. |
Nov 28, 2019You're right about Golden Shield. That's a shame. There's other less powerful plays. |
Are you puting Necklace of Girion in play with the contract ? Do you trigger the Guarded keyword ?
