Discard Pile

Mr. Underhill 4179

This deck is a Noldor / Beorning mashup that tries to draw into the Beorning Skin-changer and play big angry bears (such as Beorn, Beorning Guardian and Giant Bear) from the discard pile.

The ideal starting hand for this deck is a Beorning Skin-changer with Beorn or a Giant Bear, To the Sea, to the Sea!, and a lore ally such as Galdor of the Havens.

With this hand, you can discard your large Beorning to give Aragorn a resource, then play the Skin-changer. Next you play To the Sea!, discard your hand and play Galdor. You can then discard the skin-changer in the combat phase to put a huge bear out for free. That's potentially 11 resources of cards on turn 1, which as I'm sure you'll agree is... insane!

The deck quests quite well due to the Noldor characters and Aragorn + Beornings gives plenty of attack power. Erestor and Elven-light keep the cards coming over the course of the game, and DĂșnedain Pipe can be used to move Will of the West to the bottom of your deck until you need it.

The deck works well when paired with a partner running The Storm Comes because it makes paying for the Beornings much easier. However, I have beaten some tough quests even without that card, include Raid on the Grey Havens (Nightmare). If you are playing solo, swap Rivendell Bow for Henamarth Riversong.

Here you can see the deck in action against The King's Quest alongside Bgamerjoe's Rohan Sidequesting deck: https://youtu.be/TAo5QaX3l30

Thanks and I hope you enjoy it.
